Purchasing dilemna.. 04 STi for 29800 or 05 STi for MSRP
like the title says, thats the dilemna i have presented to me. My local dealership has a brand new silver/gold STi for 29800 (includes boost gauge, armrest extension and wheel locks). This sounds like an excellent deal, but with the 05 coming here later this month, i dont know what to do!
My first color choice is the white/gold STi which is pretty much impossible to find around here. with the 05, i'd be able to place my order for a white/gold unit but i'll be paying MSRP for it.
so what do you guys think? 04 or 05?

Hey,
What market area are you located in? That fact has much to do with the price your paying. I just purchased a O4 STI sil/sil two weeks ago for a similar price+couple hundred. Same dilemma....in the end it was a matter of not liking the new rear fender flares and rear bumper of the 05 that did it for me. My location in the middle of the Colorado Rockies left the picking slim but I got a good deal.
If you can deal with the color...make really sure you really like it! Then its a smokin deal and go for the 04.
Cheers,
Dave

im in the metro nyc area. the silver/gold is my 3rd or 4th color choice, but there are a few other things that i like about the 05 that makes me think about waiting.
the auto hvac upgrades are a nice addition as is the stereo. the new wheel bolt pattern interests me as well since i already have a set of prodrive wheels from my s2000 in the 5x114.3 bolt pattern that *might* fit.

Another thing to consider is the ~$3000 price difference...the 05's MSRP is around $33k...so that is an issue for me...but if u have the money, then go for it...that way, u will also be able to get the color u want...

before you make a decision look at the 05 pics if you haven't already.
i say buy what you really want. if not, you may regret it. but if price is a major concern stick with the 04. the changes are minor but some are nice. the 05 impreza get treated to a panasonic sound system versus the mcintosh systems of the past.

i saw the new crystal gray and i must admit i really like that color. if i cant get into a white/gold, crystal gray is a no-brainer.
i'm kinda apart from the rest of the crowd as to liking the rear fender trim. it negates the black rubber trim found on the 04's wheel well (closest to the door). i always thought that black spot kinda looked a bit out of place.
i spoke to the dealership this evening and theyre willing to get me out of my s2000 for more than i expected..

I personally would get the '05. I like the interior better and it has some updates to the steering and other components that will be a little upgrade over the '04. Additionally, since white/gold is the best color combo EVER for the STi, and certainly far better than silver/gold, I would order an '05. See if you can talk em down at all on the price - if not, it's generally $20/mo for each $1000 you finance, so if you're financing an additional $3k, you're looking at $60 more per month.
DEFINITELY worth it.
Make sure you post pics when you get it.
