I'm a little confused about which front brake pads my '02 wagon needs. I know the '02's and '03's use different pads, but when is the cutoff date? My car was built in May 2002, but according to this http://www.stoptech.com/faq/data/faq29.htm I need the later pads, this site sells pads for cars built before and after March 2002, http://www.subaruwrxparts.com/tuneup.html which would still mean I need the later pads. The part that makes me wonder about all this is how obscure this info is. I would think it would be all over this forum, but several searches haven't really given me any conclusive info.

yosemitemtb - Hey there! I sell all Stoptech parts and we went through this when the problem was first discovered. If your car was built in May of 2002 then you get the pads for 02. If you car was built from Dec 02 - Jan 03 then you need the 03 pads.

Thanks for the reply, I believe you are right, I need the '02 pads, but according to what you say, some '03's use the '02 pads? I know the '03's hit the dealers about a month or so after I bought mine in 8/02. Anyway, thanks for the help!

 

yosemitemtb - Sure thing bud! You will use the 02 pads....yeah just a few of the 03 cars actually use the 02 pads. It is messed up but that is Subaru for you...always stirring up crap...lol.

December of '02 is the cut off date...if your car was built after december then it uses the newyer brakes. My car is 03 but it was built before december so it uses the 02 brakes.
