Okay this is one for you Engine Guru guys out there. We all know that COBB and Vishnu are 2 of the top tuners for our Subies but now it comes down to their ECU reflashes. I was convinced on the Vishnu reflash but read about the new COBB and theirs maps along with the AccessPort that eases the troubles of reflashing our ECU's. So what do you guys think. Which of the two from what you guys know appears to be the best. Im gonna do my research and report what I find. Anyone have any knowledge of either? Thanks in advance.

Each tuner, even those you haven't mentioned, has their loyal customer base. What's more meaningful than someone saying "brand Acme rocks!" is someone else who has tried both reflashes with the same mods.
Locally in the San Francisco Bay Area, such a shootout (http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31324) between local tuner reflashes was conducted at a neutral facility. Unfortunately, the results were less than decisive and subject to interpretation. I expected only minor differences anyway, since off-the-shelf maps are purposely tuned conservatively for a given grade of fuel (both Cobb and Vishnu have maps for 91 and 93 octane). The real advantage becomes apparent with custom tuning performed in conjunction with a reflash.
Cobb Tuning's products enjoy a nice price advantage compared to any tuner's EcuTek reflash. Cobb did the research to crack the Subaru ECU code in-house while other tuners must charge a licensing fee as part of the first EcuTek reflash.
Personally, I like having a custom tune to suit my specific mods, which may or may not use any particular tuner's parts. I'm fortunate that I live in a location which has several highly-respected tuning shops to choose from. Your profile doesn't state your general location...
If you do a search of this forum, you'll find several threads touting both Cobb and Vishnu reflashes. From what I've read, their customers are happy with their Stage kits but often have questions when other mods are installed that don't quite fit the description of the next Stage upgrade. That's where a custom tune really shines.
