Maintenance ?'s and Synthetic Oil

Maintenance ?'s and Synthetic Oil
I'm a rather new WRX owner and have some questions about maintenance issues.
1). Any opinions about purchasing the Maintenance Plan from Subaru? It's $800 for 3/36,000 at 7,500 mile maintenance intervals.
2). I'm right at the point of doing the first oil change. Any opinions about using synthetic oil? Does anyone know how this works if I choose to do the Maintenance Plan? (will they use synthetic?)

1) Not worth it - dealers love to push these cause its a big money maker - unless your the type who doesn't want to even check the oil let alone change it, I would pass. Keep in mind that you can buy the extended warrenty up to 35,999 miles.
2) I doubt if any Maintenance plan includes synthetic oil but I could be wrong. Most people wait untill they put 10K on the car before going synthetic ( like me ).
