Greetings all,
I have recently aquired a newer Subaru remote control. The questions that I need answerd are the following.

1. I have a 98 Impreza are all the Subaru keyless wireless remote entry controllers the same? or can they only be used for a particular model. The remote that I have appears to be newer than mine.

2. If it is compatable with my vehicle, could some one tell me how to program it?

I know that the older Imprezas have different remotes from the newer ones. I believe that the alarm systems in the WRXs will not work on the older generation Imprezas. I am sure that you can try but I doubt it will work.

That is kind of the reason why in the manual about which remote you have is because the one that came with your car is the only one that will work with your car.

I am aware that the WRX remotes will only work with them, however I did hear through the grapevine that most of them were programable. So long as they were for Subarus..

Well I know that for the 98 Imprezas you can program quite a few remotes for that system. The newer models are able have quite a few programmed also.
