Ok, drove through a gravel storm (farm truck pulling onto highway, jumping and dumping mud, gravel...) and have dinged up my intercooler, along with every other panel on the car.

Anyways, insurance is replacing the intercooler.

I was thinking about using the APS top mount, but their website doesn't really tell me a couple of things...

Is there a benefit? Or would a front mount be better. I hope to see around 450bhp out of the car so.... can a top mount handle that?

Appreciate it.

There's a review of the APS TMIC in the recent issue of Sport Compact Car and its comparison to the stock WRX TMIC. See if that helps your decision. :)

i would just stick with the top mount. it can handle the horsepower.

Dont forget about this TMIC (http://www.members.cox.net/worxtuning/wtic) which is the one I'll be purchasing for my STi.

Ok, a couple of questions....

How much power can the stock Sti intercooler handle?

Plus, I read the article in SCC, and they didn't seem to happy with the APS unit... in fact, their data suggested that it really is not that much of an improvement.

So thinking along those lines, does the APS unit need big power to be efficient?

If you look on rallispec.com I think they sell the JDM top mount Sti intercooler and they say it's still slightly larger that the USDM for slightly better all around perf. That's something else you could look into.

Would a clear bra have helped or do you actually have small dings everywhere?
