legacy turbo engine
A brand new longblock from subaru is 1500. A used one --in really could condition-- typically goes anywhere from about 600-900. Us old legacy guys don't typically sell 'em once we get our hands on 'em.
To put that in your RS, you need to simply bolt it in. If you want to run it with a turbo, then you'll need the turbo headers, cross member, downpipe, and turbo. Also pick up the front sway bar from the turbo legacy, as your RS sway bar won't work.
You'll also either need an aftermarket ECU to handle all the turbonium goodness, or an ECU from the same year legacy; perferrably a MT ecu as the automatic ECUs will throw a code when connected to a manual tranny.

You won't even need an ECU out of a Legacy, just a MAP-MAF converter if you're car runs MAP, I can't remember. 2 of my friends are running this engine, one in a 97 outback, and one in a 99 rs. Awesome swap, I wish I would have done it with my turbo conversion.
