Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

Crack the oil pan drain bolt and see if water or oil comes out first. If there's water in there, you are going to need major repairs.

Another way to do it is remove all 4 spark plugs, then turn the engine over. If water comes squirting out......youre probly in BIG trouble.

Either way...change your oil, pull the plugs, run the starter, put the plugs back and start it up again. If it seems to run fine, have it compression tested. If not, you are gonna have serious repairs to be done.

When it stalled, did it stop :BAM: instantly, or did it sputter a little and just stop running? If it stalled like it would if there was just a problem, then you probably didn't hydrolock and may not have any problems.

also when you take it to the dealer, dont tell them what happened. I know too many horror stories about people going through puddles, their cars being ok untill they take them to the dealer and then the service department says "oh yeah, everything is toast because you went through a puddle". I assume they think its a free meal ticket for them when they get in a car like that.

if you do tell the dealership what happened, make sure to take it to a second ( or even third ) garage to get more then just one opponion on it.

with my experience with cars, if it runs after you *think* you sucked up water, more then likely you didnt or you got a minimum ammount to the point that there was no hydrolock and you should be ok.

Tell the dealership that she is running a little rough and sputters sometimes, let them hook it up to a scantool and see what it says.

just my $.02 on the subject
