too late to switch to synthetic? (original title: "oil")

a lil mythbusters question for you guys....ive herd that switching to synthetic past a certain point isnt good for an engine. i have 69k on mine right now and need to change the oil. i just bought the car recently from a stealership and i have no idea what is in it(conventional or sythetic) and neither do the geniouses over at the dealership. help?

You should just run whatever weight the owners manual recomends. As for synthetic vs conventional, Synthetic is safe to run and will be better in the long run. For now though, keep an eye on your oil level every few hundred miles as the car is liable to burn the synthetic vs the conventional.

^^ I agree, the most important thing is to make sure the weight is correct and watch the oil levels. Personally, I would use synthetic but conventional is fine too.
