ABC Reporter Arrested in Denver Taking Pictures of Senators, Big Donors

Asa Eslocker Was Investigating the Role of Lobbyists and Top Donors at the Convention

DENVER -- Police in Denver arrested an ABC News producer today as he and a camera crew were attempting to take pictures on a public sidewalk of Democratic senators and VIP donors leaving a private meeting at the Brown Palace Hotel.

A cigar-smoking Denver police sergeant, accompanied by a team of five other officers, first put his hands on Eslocker's neck, then twisted the producer's arm behind him to put on handcuffs.

A police official later told lawyers for ABC News that Eslocker is being charged with trespass, interference, and failure to follow a lawful order. He also said the arrest followed a signed complaint from the Brown Palace Hotel.
Video of Police Harassment.

Holy ****ing ****.

Never a dull moment at the DEM Convention.

The cops are f'ed. ABC is going to plaster this all over the place. I mean... F'ed in the sense that ABC is going to plaster it in such a way that they tell you what they want you to hear.

Public property doesn't belong to us, it belongs to government.

You can't tell someone to leave public property for no reason and then arrest them for it. That was a huge overreaction. I want to know what the reason behind all that was.

Leave it to Paul to be the first to post anything bad that's even remotely related to Democrats

Yes they can. We own anything, the goverment can take away your home, car, whatever. So what makes a sidewalk so free? What about when they close down streets for events and stuff... they can do as they like.

As much as I don't agree with the above, it's the truth. Also after a cop says get out of here, one should do so. If the hotel has some papers saying that guy needs to leave, well, i guess i he better, cause they have the restraining order or whatever it may be.

Orders from a street cop aren't the final authority. It's highly recommended that you follow instruction, but orders from a policeman aren't infallible. If the street and sidewalk were closed off for govt. business, that's a different story. But that doesn't look like the case here.

And the govt. can take your property after paying you a fair value of money for it.

If you notice the police pushes him into traffic then says he is taking him in for impeding traffic. I think is it is BS doing it that way but also I heard Denver is tired of Paparazzi and this guy just happened to be a legitimate news person not a dirt hound.
