Hi all, I have had this issue for a while now and it is really starting to get to me. I have an 05 wrx wagon and when I hit the lock or unlock button on my keyless remote, the lights dont blink anymore, and it wont chirp either, even when i hold the buttons and what not to make it work according to the script on the reverse side. I checked all FUSES in engine bay and in fuse box in the cabin but nothing is blown, are there any relays I am not aware of? or has anyone else encountered this problem? HELP PLEASE THIS IS ANNOYING!!!!!!

Is the security light on the dash flashing constantly in a "blink-blink-pause" pattern? If so you've put the system in valet mode. To get it back to normal, hold down the unlock button on the remote for a few seconds with the drivers door open.

It's possible the piezo beeper has gone bad, this is a known issue on the 04/05's. The beeper is located up front by the radiator, they tend to die probably from the combination of engine heat, dirt, water etc.

yep..mine chooses when to actually chirp...there was a thread not too long ago with a whole bunch of people with 06-07 models not having the chirp being able to function all the time either..i plan on upgrading my alarm eventually

I have the same problem with my 05 wrx. I'm gonna give this a try in the morning. Hopefully it'll go back to normal, if not, its no big deal. Thanks for the tip though.

so does this idea work on all models... cause i thought that the valet mode was supposed to go away... or do you have to turn valet mode on and off?

After 2 and a half years of having my STi I finally have flashing lights on my car when I lock or unlock now, w00t!! Oh yeah my chirp mode decides when it wants to work for me as well. I like it when it does not, a few of my neighbors have Toyota's and Lexus' and they have the same beep, so yeah no chirp is good alternative for me :)
