Here are the services I offer and the pricing with the AP V2:

**** Local Tuning Services ****

EQ Custom Tuning - This is the true custom tune for your setup. In this process I start with one of my base maps that's close to your setup and spend atleast 2 hours on the dyno or on the road custom tailoring and perfecting the map to your specific car and needs. I will spend atleast 3 hours on more complicated setups such as Big MAF intakes, non-standard turbos, rotated setups, etc. Such setups require some serious time to not only extract the right amount of power but to provide great daily drivability and stability. This is where my attention to detail really comes into play and will result in the best possible tune for your setup with an emphasis on the balance between good power output, consistency, and reliability.

Prices -
* Standard setups (2 hours) $350, or packaged with AP V2 $950
* Complicated setups such as Big MAF, non-standard turbos, EWG, rotated setups, etc (3+ hours) $400 or packaged with AP V2 $999

**** Remote Tuning Services ****

I also offer the following remote tuning services for out of state customers:

EQ Base map for your modifications -
* $125 with your own AP
* $750 packaged with AP V2

EQ remote custom tuning for most setups -
* $250 with your own AP
* $850 packaged with AP V2

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Ed, are non-standard replacement turbos considered anything other than the usual VF-series, or the 16g, or 18g, or other 'bolt-on' turbos? There are so many aftermarket turbos for the WRX and STi these days that run the gamut from fully streetable to race. Are there a few examples of turbos you can name that might generally be considered a common setup? I realize that other add-on components have to be taken into consideration in some cases and that the customer should contact you with their specifics.

Standard turbos in general are anything that doesn't require a Big MAF intake. The VF series turbos, and everything up to a 20G fall under this catagory.

hey there, ed. i've heard great things about you. do you have much experience tuning a 4eat? i'm in the hayward area, do you tune at gruppe-s? also, which would you recommed - dyno or road tune? is the boost solenoid worth it? i'm thinking of having that done as well. thanks.

I have tuned many 4EAT cars. I do use the Gruppe-S dyno on occasion, but with my previous experience with AT cars, I would highly recommend a road tune. Tuning an AT car propperly really requires tuning around the shifting patterns of the tranny and you can't really test this on a dyno. AT tunes end up quite different than MT but you really need to be able to pull through the gears and test out overall drivability on the road to get the tune right.

The 3-port boost solenoid is always worth it on a 2.0l. It greatly improves boost response and overall drivability of the car. Another great option for boost control is the Hallman MBC. This will actually provide even better response than the solenoid and much more consistant and solid boost levels. The only drawback with the MBC is that you have to trust yourself to not mess with it after the car is tuned ;).

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks

sounds good, thanks for the reply. i'll definitely contact you when i'm ready. where would be the best place to road tune in the area? and which hallman mbc would you recommend? i've looked at their website and they seem to have a bunch of different types.

I do most of my road tuning out of Danville. There are some nice farm roads out there that work well this. The Hallman Pro RX is the one to get.

He speaks the truth. Just don't let him leave his car keys in the MR2 while you guys are having a chat. It may result in a locked running car. Ill never let it go :). No but actually hes a really cool guy to chill with and will go the extra mile to get things working properly and smoothly. I know a buddy who has seen ed a few times just to get things knuckled down.

Haha... I'm much more careful about leaving my keys in the MR2 since that night.
Besides, the excitement when I finally got the door open with a wire hanger was almost worth the whole ordeal :D.

I'm scheduling about 2 weeks in advance at the moment, but I can usually squeeze and extra car in here or there if its a special circumstance. Let me know what you're thinking about and we can figure it out.

well if you're only booked 2 weeks ahead I should be fine. I'm aiming for late July but I'll let you know ahead of time. I'm just looking to have both maps touched up once the RA geared tranny is in

oh, and I was just gonna do dyno tuning to touch up the maps

so you are located in the danville area but flexible on locations in the bay? question: say i installed a bigger turbo, fuel injectors and pump, fmic, 3 port solenoid, etc etc etc. (well if you care for your long lasting mods) i know you must follow "break-in rules" such as drive at xx speed only under xx boost under xx rpm for xx miles. how will this work out from the break-in time between install and the dyno tune. will you create custom maps for a pre-tune break in period? if so will you charge an x amount? please give us some info on this.

..or am i missing out on something, cause i never really seen this kind of topic mentioned before

im just really antsy pantsy about correct procedures and hoping for the best out of what i invest in toward my car.

I do most of my road tuning out of Livermore/Danville area and more recently, Novato/Petaluma area as well. If you plan on getting a tune with me, I will be happy to send you a break-in map that will be a safe map to drive on to test out the install, break-in the new parts and get you to the tune safely. Feel free to contact me via e-mail or phone for more details.

This part goes for everyone... I would highly recommend getting in touch with me or your tuner of choice prior to purchasing and installing all your parts. Each tuner has their preferences on key parts like intakes and injectors that can really make or break the tune.
