96 Legacy short shifter install

96 Legacy short shifter install
I just bought a Cosmo Short shifter for my 96 wagon and I am having problems with the install.
The shifter ball on the shifter is smaller than the original by about a 1/4".
I looked on the B&M site and the shifter for a 96 looks identical to the one I have. Just in case I looked at the shifter for a 95 and it looks a lot diferent than the stock one so I know I don't have a early model legacy.
Has anyone else had problems with their install.
