...that marketing and opportunism has taken the place of logical thinking and correctness in modern politics?
Votes mean more than intelligence.
Control means more than moral dedication.
It's pathetic. Everyone of our founding fathers would be ashamed of how corrupt and distant our political system has become from what matters.
Being loyal to the guy who got you where you are is more important than the best interests of the American people? That's an illness, endemic of the whole system.
Politics and politicians suck really bad right now. How will it be made right...
at least there are people here who take their civic duty as Americans to think about and discuss real politics (when they are not distracted by the salesmenship of both political parties).

Yea tell us something we don't know....lol. Running a country is a complicated thing. Especially when it comes to running the most powerful nation on the planet. Both the democrats and republicans are dedicated to protecting our way of life and keeping us, the citizens, happy. They just have different ways of going about it. The politics of running a country are complicated and the average citizen would get confused easily. That's why the political leaders dumb things down and give long winded dramatic speaches. This is so that the average middle aged trailer park trash or young wide eyed college kid, still wet behind the ears, will feel like they relate in some way to what that political candidate is trying to accomplish. When a candidate or political leader gives a public speach it's nothing more than a photo op and pillow talk to pacify the ignorant masses. You just have to ignore it and do your own research.
I hate the elections. Nothing but ad campaigns, back stabbing, lying, deceit, and treachery. From both sides fo course. You just have to dig through the crap and decide what's best on your own.

Bullshi*. All they care about is owning the house and senate with a president of their own party. And their pensions and salaries, of course.

Sure there's corruption in politics. But one doesn't go into politics to become rich. Usually, most politicians are doing pretty well before even getting involved. As far as wanting ones own party member running the show,..sure, that goes without saying. In the grand scheme of things, the government has to keep the citizens happy and safe.

You mean like forcing the religion of most Americans and it's values onto all Americans, despite the fact that this country is founded on the premise that anyone can subscribe to whatever religion they would like? Vote republican...

The pledge of allegiance that we used to say in grade school.
"One nation under God" ring a bell?

There's no better ally than God. Our you implying that our nation has been blessed by God only because Republicans, the pledge, and the religious influence on our founding fathers?
If so, I agree. Heck, even Rush Limbaugh has talent on loan from God. ;)

Not true.
The uber secret sect of Mormons that take multiple wives has been outlawed.
You can also not practice a religion.

Sometimes I have to pinch myself to make sure i'm not living in the Christian equivalent of an Islamic State under Sharia Law.
Other than song, a few documents, marriage in some states, and abortion, what else is there? Hell, abortion is still legal and you can choose not to participate in song and get married in another state. I got married in another state as a California resident and i'm not even gay. Speaking of song I went to the SF Giants game last night and they sang God Bless America during the 7th inning stretch. I was extremely surprised on the amount of people that sang along in such a liberal city. The stadium rang with song and post-song cheering.

Not much, but considering those few topics DECIDE entire elections (between politicians, not just ones for laws) I'd say it's pretty disgusting that even these seemingly small religious injections have been made into our politics.

Isn't that the rough English translation of what a few guys were muttering on a few planes 5 years ago today? Scary...
