Most people who want to lower the OB resort to removing the longer OB struts as well. If you're looking for a stock ride height, springs might do the trick, but you could probably use some replacement struts as well. Converting to the normal Legacy struts, or replacements from KYB, would drop you down a few inches and make things look a lot nicer.

you might also try asking sybir, cause he's got an outback the same year as yours. his is dropped kinda low, but it looks really nice.

i have a 97 legacy outback wagon. looking for some springs to lower my ride. i put on some gt wheel 205/55/16 and want to compensate for the gaps. heard whiteline makes some for the legacy wagon. any help would be appreciated. i am looking for a nice drop with some good comfort ride

don't lower it! , put so lowprofile tires on it then see if you still want to lower it, if you live in an area with dips like they have around my hosue, then you don't need lower it, LMFAO! I'm drunkl but who gives a **** listen to what I'm saying , put lowpros on it and if you can make it over the bumbs or dips with out doing 5mph, then go ahead and lower it , h&r is what I'm going with, I bought my wife a 99' Legacy, not lower it unless I must for control, becuase of the roads! I haven't played around with conventional lowering springs on the OB. I've run a number of setups using GC/GD struts and Ground Control coilover sleeves, with varying results; I'm currently running Tein Flex coilovers for a 02-06.
