View Full Version : no cats=after fire? 1wrx2goplz 03-12-2003, 08:28 PM just wondering i have been running no cats and have ben getting after fire (or is it back fire) every now and then is this normal? normaly around 4-6g rpm at WOT PaulRex 03-12-2003, 10:31 PM I get alot of afterfire, and yeah that is the correct term for anal people lol... You should not get any while your actually accelerating in gear however if your car is tuned right, I only get afterfire when I am coasting, or when I am off of the throttle completly at low rpms usually. Sometimes when I initially roll into the throttle I will get one pop sound, and in between shifts at WOT like when racing, I get an pop also. So if you do the same thing don't worry about it. If your car sounds like it's breaking up at WOT then worry about it lol. 1wrx2goplz 03-12-2003, 10:42 PM pheeww.. thanks for the reply. My friend who is some what mechanicly inclined told me im creating a vacumm and sucking in air through my exhaust to my combustion chamber :? :? well what ever that means im glad my car is responding normally. GLwagon 03-13-2003, 06:50 PM Put on a 100% VTA BOV & go catless & she'll snap & bark between gears... normal... 0db 03-13-2003, 08:13 PM Ahhhh nothing says "turbo" quite like a nice fireball out the exhaust. As long as it's not saying "turbo" to the officer behind you with his windows down. :) teck7droid 03-13-2003, 08:14 PM What muffler is everyone running to get afterfire? Im thinking about going catless:) Would a turbo xs sealthback with a stock muffler produce flames? hehe tell me what set up you guys run, thanks for the info~~~ Br1t1shguy 03-13-2003, 10:42 PM Perfectly normal. What it is, is when you take you're foot of the gas the first injection cycle or so is still gonna be goin for broke, and all that unburned gas hits you're hot turbo and pops out the back. 1wrx2goplz 03-13-2003, 10:58 PM i didnt know flames could shoot out the exhaust haha maybe i should have my friend film the back of my car while i shift gears 2 see the flames :) |
