Yokohama AVS ES100 Tires
I see the reviews on the Tire Rack website a really good for these tires, especially given the cost for 225/45/17s. Can anyone out there confirm the reviews and performance of these tires?
What do you tire vendor guys think?
Thanks!

They really are good tires - the reviews are for real. I've driven on them a couple of times, and their handling is on-par with most of the ultra high performance tires but their price is much better. I frequently recommend them, as do many others here - that's why they're tough to keep in stock.

i would recommend these tires!! i have 215/45 17's on 7" mille miglia mm11's, on my 95 talon tsi. i can't believe how great they are for $97. going from stock 16" wheels with 205/50's, they do ride a little more harsh, but nothing i can't live with. noise is very low. wet traction is awesome. and dry traction is incredible. and they don't seem to make any noises when being pushed into a corner, or taking off. i hate having squealing tires when your carving though a sharp corner. they reallllllly grip!!! i'm just wondering how long they're going to last, the way i've been driving since i got the wheels and tires on!
just want to note, i got the package from tirerack. you guys rule. after lots of online time looking for a good vendor with good prices, and what i wanted, i decided to order from tirerack. thanks a lot!

I have had 225/45 17's on my WRX for about 1,000 miles. So far I love them. You can't even compare them to the RE92's. I agree with X1_SRT's view on their handling characteristics. I have not had the chance to push them in the wet yet (I live in San Diego), but in the dry they are great. Grip well and loose grip gradually at the limit. The ride is a little firmer than stock, but not very much. Tire noise is almost the same as stock. I had to turn the radio off to notice any increase in noise. I hope that the noise stays low as they wear. I also hated the tire squeel of the RE92 when driven at 80%. These Yokos make an interesting noise at their limit, it almost sounds like the whine of gears, that does not happen until you are really pushing it through the turns.
I hope this helps you, Andy

Thanks for all the responses everyone. I try to put things in perspective with cost vs. benefit. It definitely sounds like this is one of those cases where you get more than you pay for. Looks like the ES100 Yokos are just what I'm looking for. Thanks again.

i now have 7000 miles on my AVS's 225/40/18's and they are still working great and wearing well. little problem with cupping on the front tires but i think that's from not having the correct pressure in them and driving hard. i think i was a bit low for a few weeks. they make a little more noise now.......it's considerable......but again......that goes back to the cupping......i have a feeling that's what's causing all the noise these days. other than that the tires are still holding up great without any problems. for how cheap they are i can deal with a little cupping in the front tires
