Winter tires
My RE92s are getting a little bald. I have some nice Kumhos waiting for me once spring arives, but they aren't M&S rated, so I can't put them on yet. I was hoping to make it through the winter on my RE92s, but I'm begining to get the feeling that it isn't going to work out as I planed. I do live in icy/snowy cold weather, so I will need winter tires or all season tires. I have a few options, and I would like to get away with spending not too much. Basically, I think I can
A.) Buy more RE92s. Cheap, gets me through chain control.
B.) Get a dedicated snow tire (non-studded). Use it in the winter, put my non-M&S rated Kumhos on once the snow melts. Now my question is, What to buy?
C.) Get a better-then-RE92 all season tire. Do as in option B. What to buy?
D.) Try and make it through the winter with what I have.
I don't know much about tires, so any help/advice is very much appreciated. I have a feeling that options A.) and D.) are pretty much out of the question, but I figured I'd throw them out to see if my assumptions are correct.
Thanks.
EDIT: 2002 Legacy L in case anyone was wondering.

If you really need to make it through the snow, then a snow tire is key. If money is a constraint, then look at the 15" steel wheels ($38 each) and 205/60-15 Firestone Winterforce ($47 each). This will give you great performance in the white stuff and you can leave your summer tires on your alloys. It will cost around $400 to get them mounted/balanced and delivered. Call quickly if you'd like to do it - not many left this year.
PS. You're wasting your money to buy RE-92s again.
