Widest tires on a 05' STi?
I am looking to pick up a 05' STi here in a few weeks and I want to get as much tire underneath it as I can. I will probably pick up the car and drive directly to the tire store so I can trade them in for some decent cash.
Down the road I will upgrade the wheels to 18's and run 18x10 all the way around with 285 rubber at all 4 corners. I auto-x and the more tire you can get underneath it the better.
But on the stock 17x8 wheel how wide can I go without rubbing? How about if I lower it?
Thanks for your help...

I've driven the vehicle on a track and I thought I was pushing the vehicle to it's limit......a professional racer proved me wrong when it was his turn to drive.
IMO, spend the money on a driving school instead.
