So they really are a top of the line wheel and not just some JDM product that everyone drools over because it's JDM?

I'm being serious here. I do like a couple of the Volk wheels I've seen but I'd like to know what $2000/set gets me.

I do not think that Volk are expensive. I think they are priced very correct.

Andrew Racing (Veilside) rims are very expensive (~ $1000 per wheel)
Volks, Advans, Works, BBS, SSR are priced good.

And, there are cheap, immitation, knock off, replica and other "Walmart-like" wheels.

At the end you get what you pay for.

From all the knock-offs, I only semi-like Rota's because they are very strong and they have proven them many times on various racetracks. Now, if only they would stop copying brand wheels and make their own, they would be even better.

Quality, huck.

I would say that most of the Volks are forged, so strength for thier light weight is also a varible in the pricing equation.

Not all Volks are foged. And, there is one peice forged, 2 peice forged and 3 peice forged. So there are many variables.

Got it. I guess I've been spoiled paying for Rotas. Especially since they get such good reviews from the Subaru community. There's just so many other areas of my car I'd put a couple of grand into. Well, for now. I'm sure the wheel bug will bite me soon. I'm just looking for a second set of cheap wheels for winter tires right now.

I do have to agree with Imprezer. It would be nice to see some original wheels coming from Rota.

Volks are great quality and look great, but I think their 3 piece wheels bend fairly easily. I bent 3 out of my 4 AV3s when I had them on my CRX.

My SSR's have survived 30k hard miles without any sort of damage other than a few scratches and nicks from playin' in the dirt.
My 17's with MX's are quite a bit lighter than the stock 16" wheels and RE-92's, and a vast improvement as well.

Light+Strong+Imported=expensive

as a side note though they really arent THAT expensive in comparison to HRE or some other brands. They are out of reach for guys like you and me though. I'm very happy with my ASA JS5's. They only wiegh a bit over 20 pounds and only cost 125 per rim, I think they look good and I have had no problems with strength yet.
