wheels w/o lugs?
Ahh, the cement block -- a classic!
Actually, there is a group of theives jacking BBS and Dubs from local Escalades around here, and they DO leave the jacks behind. They get two shop-quality jacks and put them under the front and rear jack points and just boost the car up in the air, then take the wheels (often leaving the lugs scattered around.) There was a hilarious picture of this in the paper last week... But the wheels stolen were worth $8,000 or so -- these crooks aren't in high school.

Not really. When you get up to the 24" size, basically all you can get are custom or rare wheels. Besides, these are going on $56,000 cars, so spending $8k more (and paying dealer prices, not TireRack prices) isn't that much of a stretch. A set of 24" HREs will set you back that much, easily. Also, the $8,000 includes the cost of the tires, which can approach the $250-apiece mark easily at that size (again, dealership prices, not TR).
way back in the day, my sisters del sol wheels got jacked. my family was on vacation camping some where for the week, when we got back, the thieves were nice enough to leave the car on milk crates filled with wood.
