I agree- the biggest downside to 16's is tire selection. 225/50/16 selection has waned in the last couple of years. Still lots of good ones, but not as many as in the 17 sizes.

I'm running 16x7" slips on my bugeye w/ 205/55/16's. No bumpy ride and I shaved off 3lbs of unsprung weight. I like how they look almost "stock" and don't attract unneccesary attention.

I am running SSR 16x7.5 with 205/55-16. I loved the change from the stock 16s, it made a totally obvious difference in cornering and suspension performance. It's time for new tires however, wondering if i should try a wider size this time maybe 215/55-16?? Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks for the tip. I was trying to save on overall weight, but 215 55 seems to weigh the same as 225 50, not much of a difference. How would the lower profile affect driveability in dirt? Also, since this would change the actual height, I wonder how it might look on the 16" wheel in the wheel wells.

doh.. i should do the math before speaking. 205/55 = 225/50, the profile is almost identical
