Wasted Stock Rims Upgrade
It seems like a waste to upgrade the stock rims that are 6 1/2 wide with 17" rims that are only 7"wide. If I really want to hug the road, spending $1000 for a lousy 1/2 inch seems like a waste.
Am I the only one!!!
I'd like some 17" rims, but will it make that much of a difference?

Aparently I am an idiot, and the actual tire can be up to 9" wide even on a 7" wide rim.
My second question though, is how much do the stock tires weigh. Someone said 16.5 lbs, but that can't be right. Most of these 17" rims weigh 17 lbs +, and the stocks probably don't weigh less.

and as for the 9" tire on a 7" rim, i wouldnt do it, too much tire to roll under, go for a little bit smaller, on higher profile tires it wouldnt be so bad, but with 17's that is risking it a bit
