Vibrations at speed after the blizzard.

Hello,

I live in New England and my car got burried in snow this weekend. I dug it out this morning and drove through some deep snow to get it out of its spot. Today I got on the highway and about 60 the car started to vibrate, almost like it had a flat. I took an exit, looked at the tires and noticed they had a bunch of snow on them. I tried to clean them off, got on the highway again to the same results. After work I came up with the idea that the snow and ice on the inside of the wheels (stock) was causing the wheels to not be balanced. I have cleaned them off, but have not gone on the highway again yet. My friend has an RSX and noticed the same problem, and someone at work had a brand new Mazda 6 and also had the problem. What's the cause? Any solutions? Thanks.

Snow or mud packed onto wheels will definitely unbalance them. Yours should be fine now, unless you knocked off any wheel weights cleaning them.

Exactly what happened to me almost every day. Spray your rims (NOT your brake discs!) with PAM (yes, the cooking spray) after giving them a washing. It will keep the ice and snow from building up enough to cause vibration.

snow and ice packed into the wheel would definitely cause a vibration

I had the same thing happen to me last year during a big snow storm. Once I cleaned out the wheels everything was back to normal. I've got the stockers (wheels) on now which i think won't let as much snow in as the SDR's.

If you don't like pam, use wd-40. Helps in the fenders also from getting packed w/ snow.

PAM has lower cholesterol content than WD40, and is non-toxic
