Toyo T1-S
Toyo T1-S
I'm looking to get some new tires soon on my STI and im looking around for a good summer tire with good wet/dry traction and i found these Toyo T1-S's. I don't need an all weather tire cause i dont plan on going to the snow but i want a decently cheap tire that won't hydroplane like my stock Re070s are starting too. All the reviews so far sound good and they look sick....does anyone know prices on a stock 225/45/17 and has anyone had these before or can give me info on any other tires? I also saw the Toyo T1-R's and Proxe 4's that my freind has on his S4 and loves. Anyone of those good choices?

Im not sure how much the T1-S's cost. If your willing to throw down some cash (about $160 a tire is what i paid) than you should go for the Potenza RE01 R's. Their amazing dry/wet tires. In design they look similar to the 070's but without the half slicks. I used to have a set of T1R's on my porsche 944S and i really liked them (responsive, good wear, and decent in rain). If your willing to spend the extra cash than the potenza's are a bit better but the Toyo's are very good tires.
I have the T1S on my car and I love them. Excellent traction in wet and dry. The only thing is because they are met for the summer and even though you say you are not going to be going in the snow, when the temperature starts to drop they become hard and traction isn't as good. But, in summer time when temps are up the hold the road like crazy! I have had them for about two summers now and I would buy them again, but I think I am going to go with the Proxies 4 cause they are all season and I am tired of taking rims off and on as the weather changes. Good Luck!

"the sidwalls on proxes 4's are too soft. good tire for everyday use but not too great on performance."
By performance do you mean track use such as auto-x, cause my car is pretty much just a daily driver and I will take it to the drag every once in a while. Other than that I think these tires would be a safe bet right for my intentions, right?

they should be fine for that. if youre planning on making a lot of hard turns (autocross/road racing) i'd stay away from proxes 4's. they should be fine for daily driving and drag.
