sounds like you got the wrong offset wheel. just roll your fenders as has already been said

7 - 8" wheels with offset 48 - 52mm are the "safe fits."

Fender lip rolling is just folding the inner fender lip flat against the body. Normally, fenders curve in at near 90 degrees at the wheel well. To "roll" them, a special tool combined with a heat gun slowly flattens the fender on the inside to allow more room for the tire. It is a bit of a chore, and I'd recommend having a body shop do the work.

There is also the baseball bat method, which is decidedly cheaper.

Well I dont really care much about the paint job on my '95 L, it needs a new paint job anyway
