You're looking at the wrong #. The middle number shows you how tall the sidewall is. the first # is actually the width. Supposedly, 235's are too wide and might cause rubbing. 225's are guaranteed not to rub. And the sidewall height should be 45's but I'm sure 40 series tires should not throw off your speedo too much to be noticeable. Most speedo's are wrong anyways.

Both sizes are recommended on 7.5 - 8" wheels with offset 48 - 52mm, but I'd venture to say the the 235s will rub with the 8.5" wheel. It especially concerns me if you'll be tweaking the camber a bit when you lower it. The 225 is my recommendation.
