Tire question

I purchased a set of Azenis and had them mounted and balanced on my 2004 Sti BBS rims. My intent was to use them on open track events. The set was place in a storage container and subsequenty never put on the car. How long can they be stored in a without concern.

More specifically, if they were sprayed with a silicone-based protectant, bagged, stacked vertically on their sides and were stored out of direct sunlight, they should be as good as the day you got them. I think sunlight and weather exposure would be the two biggest factors to worry about though. Sounds like you took care of them.

As rubber sits, the water in it evaporates. It is accelerated through driving because of how much hotter they get with friction and road temperature. With less water it becomes more brittle and harder. Hard = less sticky.

So, the less heat they receive, without getting frozen, the longer they will last.
