Swapping 01-05 WRX wheels for 2004 TS wheels?

Can I easily swap a set of 2001-2005 WRX 16" wheels and tires onto my 2004 TS?
I've done some searching on here and there isn't too many threads about a 15" to 16" switch.

Will any adjustments to the speedometer be necessary?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

What's the stock size for the TS? If the diameter is close to 24.9" you can put stock size WRX wheels and tires on with no issues.

Well, this info was taken from tirerack.com.

For stock potenza re92 on a 2004 TS.
195/50 R15
Rim width range: 5-7"
measured rim width: 6"
section width: 8"
tread width: 5.9"
Overall diameter: 24.4"
rev. per mile: 854

Stock potenza re92 on a 2004 WRX
205/60 R16
Rim width range: 5.5-7.5"
measured rim width: 6.5"
section width: 8.4"
tread width: 6.6"
Overall diameter: 25.1"
rev. per mile: 830

Can I just directly swap the rims on thoes. From what I read the bolt patterns for both are 5-100mm. Will I have to make any adjustments, or are these numbers close enough to not make a difference?

I ask because so many people sell stock wheels/tires for so cheap, and I'm not looking to spend much or shop for rims.

Thanks again!

They will swap over with no physical issues, but you have to realize that the WRX tires are significantly taller than your stock tires. Your speedo will read quite low, 3% to be exact. As long as you keep that in ind though you won't have any problems. There's also a slim chance the taller tires won't fit under your struts, but that shouldn't be an issue.

I don't think the struts will be an issue, there is a lot of space in there. I've also seen some guys on here put 16 and 17 inchers on a TS.

So, I would have to just keep in mind that my speedo id reading low and I'm going a tad bit faster than what it reads. How will this affect my odometer? Will I rack on miles faster? Will the mileage recorded by the car be more or less than the actual mileage put on the car.

Also, when I put new tires on the 16 inch WRX rims, If I get a set that have a near matching overall diameter to the stock tire size for my 2004 TS, then the speedometer will read correctly?

Thanks!

Your odometer will actually read 3% slower than normal. Small bonus.

As for new tires later, I'd go with 205/50/16. Your handling and acceleration will improve, and you'll be really close to the stock diameter, so everything will be kosher.

Ok, I'll have to keep a close eye on that because I have to record mileage down for my job for expenses and claming on taxes.

So if I can find a tire that has a diameter as close as possible to 24.4", then the variance on my speedo/odo will be negligible.

Do you happen to have a good FAQ on tire sizes? I have a basic understanding of it, but I'd like to understand it fully before I go changing tire sizes.

Thanks!
