Subzeros
I bought the 17inch ROTA subzeros from subydude.com, they are going on a 99rs, 5x100, offset 48.
My question is, what tires should i put on these rims? I know pretty much nothing about tire sizes and all that, i'm just looking for something affordable with good performance.

what kind of performance are you looking for?
does it rain much where you are, or snow? all things to look into first

I'm jsut looking for something that I can use for everyday driving, with some "spirited" driving every once in awhile.
I'm looking for something that will do reasonably well in the rain, i live in new jersey and we get reasonable amount of rain.
But the snow isnt really an issue, because I have snow tires on my stock rims for the winter.
Thanks Shawn

Subzero's used to be Enkeis?
Saw an ad in the Oct. 2001 Sport Compact Car and there was an Enkei ad that showed the Subzero as one of it's wheels. It's the same exact wheel as the current Rota Subzero. Did Rota buy the design from them? Is Rota an affiliate or sister company of Enkei? Just wondering. Maybe this is something a lot of you already knew, but it's something new to me....

There is nothing wrong with Kumho 712 don't listen to him I have a set on my Rota's and they work fine and they are not expensive unlike the SO-2. My buddy runs them on his 94 Z-28 in Washington where it rains all the time and he is putting down well over 300hp and loves them has not had any problems. Just get a tire that is in your budget and suits your needs if snow is not a issuse then I would reccomend them. One of the better tires for the money. But what do I know I run RE070 on my car....But there is nothing wrong with them...

I am planning on getting the same rims in the spring time, but to answer ur question:
go with 225 45 for a lil better performance than the 215. If you have a Sedan go with 235. I have a Wagon so I can only go to 225 without rubbing.
As far as the type of tires, Im going with the Sumitomo HRT+. The Kumho's Supra 712 are good tires for the buck but if you serious about AutoX you may want stickier tires. IMO the HRT+ are better that the 712 but cost a lil more and im planing on doing my first season of AutoX next year.
Go to www.Tirerack.com and compare the tires. I read a few articles and compared a lot of tires under $100 for 17inches.
225 45 17 Sumitomo HRT+ for wagon
235 45 17 Sumitomo HRT+ for Sedan
Just my .02 and you all can have this if you dont like it

if ur looking for performance, at least get the ES100. the 712s r piece of sh*t! anyone who says they're good tires mean they dont drive their car enough. i'll never look into kuhmos again except for the MX. no im not a big balling guy who has hundreds to spend on tires but tire is one of the things on my car that i wouldnt go cheap with.

for ur question, is ur car lowered? generally people uses 215/45/17 on their RS but if ur crazy lowered like mine(1.5" drop), then go for 215/40/17
