SSRs on an STI

Dexter,

Read your thread about the 17" SSRs on your wagon. I have an STI and I want to trade out the BBS wheels for SSR Comps(gunmetal) 17" or 18". Will I have a problem with this (spacer???). Will my stock tires fit the 17s...otherwise, what would you recommend in terms of tires.

Thanks,
Paul

Your stock tires will fit, but the wheel will require a 5-10mm spacer without doubt. SSR is developing a line of Comps to fit the STi, but no eta currently. They will have the standard silver and anthracite, but get this, they are producing them also in gold and white (both without machined lip).

I've heard an ETA guess at mid winter, so early spring is probably when we'll see them. I'll keep the i-Club posted...

I don't have a Subaru-specific spacer to send, so if we went beyond 5mm thick, you'd lose the hubcentricity of the fitment. I wouldn't push you into doing this... I'd go with the SSR GT7 - coming in November.

Tires? 225/40-18 and 235/35 are the safe fits.
