SSR GT2 18x9

I'm looking to get a set of SSR GT2 for my 03 WRX. Yes they are the correct lug pattern. SO for starters, I have no idea what they talk about with offset. So firstly, can anyone explain to me what that is? I already tried reading the nasioc thread, but I just got confused. They say the 03 WRX stock wheels is 16x6.5 with 53+mm offset. So I don't know what that means.

Also, does anyone know what size tires I should be looking for? I'm looking for High Performance or Ultra High Performance All Season tires. But I'm also on budget, I only can afford ~$400-$500 for a set of 4 tires. So any recommendations that'll be great.

I guess that makes more sense.

Budget tires? Uh... I dunno. Just know that everytime you move up a wheel size, the prices of tires goes up. I paid $300 for a set of 215/45/17 tires. I spent twice that for a high performance summer tire set (235/40/17). Just remember that you'll have to get the tires mounted and balance, and if they rub, you are looking at $$$ for either fender rolling or flaring. AutoHQ and LIC do fender rolling for $75 a corner. More if you have a coilover set-up. Not sure if you have to flare your fenders, but if you do, you should talk to Henry@MachIII (dunnojack).

Don't worry much about the offset unless you are going to change your brakes. otherwise most offset should fit your car.

Basically offset is the clearance you get for your brakes. You know how some faces of the wheels are deeper in, those are lower offsets. The further out means higher offset.

I'm running 235/45 for my 17x8 if this helps

What do you want to do with your car? If you want to race, get the biggest tire you can fit on the wheel safely. If you are just driving around town, get something smaller. If you look online, most tires will tell you what the recommended wheel sizes are.

so your rims are 18x9...whats the offset on them? the tire size really depends on your suspension setup. I suggest you save up a little more and get some good tires. give me more info on your setup and I could probably give you more advice.

First number is the tire width in diameters (the length of the tire that is in contact with the ground).

The second number is a %. You take your first number x % and you get the the sidewall height in mm.

The third number is the wheel diameter.

If you are running a 18x9, I think you are at least looking at a 235 tire. At least...

235 on a 9 inch wheel would be streching. a 245 maybe fits little better. but you still have to worry about your coilovers. if you put 245 and lowered, you might not be able to do so. there are a lot of things to make sure before you get reallly good setup
