SSR Comp center caps
Hi, everybody! This is my first post after months of visiting.
My question is for Dexter, Luke or anyone who knows. I ordered a set of 16x7 SSR Comps from the Tirerack almost 3 weeks ago, and when I check my order status it shows the center caps as "special order." What gives, and how long will I be waiting?

Mule,
I'm afraid SSR has fallen behind on the production of caps because it appears many have been purchasing extra sets for their wheels. The ETA on them is early July currently. If you'd like to have your wheels to use without the caps, just PM me with your info and I'll have the order released and send you the caps as soon as SSR sends them.

Dexter,
Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it. However the answer sucks! Oh well, I guess I'll take the wheels and tires now, and start enjoying them; and wait a few weeks for the stupid caps to arrive. I'll pm you my info. Thanks again.
P.S. Here's to hoping they arrive sooner than anticipated. Come on, SSR!
Things generally won't find their way to the center of a wheel, but I'd advise rinsing it gently with water (no soap) before applying the center cap (only in the case where you're running without center caps for awhile - don't need to do this when just switching wheels). This should wash away the "soluables" while grease will remain intact. Allow it to dry overnight prior to putting on the center cap to avoid water remnants being trapped under the cap.
By the way, SSR should be sending the caps tomorrow or Thursday, so we're expecting delivery on the 2nd of June.

I'm not trying to slam tirerack or you Dexter, but I thought I should throw in my $0.02. If my order isn't on my doorstep by May 31st I'll probably cancel my order. I just got off the phone with Emily and she said I'll have them by then.
So, who's correct? Is the June date for 'general' availability or is that when you will have the parts for existing orders?
I suppose, in the grand scheme of things, that my $2500 order is peanuts to a big company, but it means alot to me.

If they get delayed again, I'll send you a set I kept with a defective clearcoat from my "personal stash." We're at the mercy of SSR here, but your "peanuts" are more important to me and this company than you'll ever know.

I put the wheels and tires on last night Dexter. Thanks a million for upgrading the shipping. They look great!!!
Those center caps are really a major biatch to get on even with the little tip you gave me about using vaseline. My 1lb rubber mallet didn't have enough ooomph to get them on. I ended up using the mallet as a buffer between the cap and a 5lb hand sledge used very gingerly. I'm sure hoping they aren't as hard to get out when the new ones come.
Ordering wheels and tire at the same time was sure a nice experience. When the set arrived all I had to do was clean the tires a little and put them on. No muss, no fuss.
Thanks again for going the extra mile.
