SSR Comp.
I want to put some 17's on my WRX and I really like the SSR Comps. except I heard that for the daily driver they tend to bend when you hit potholes and such. Is this true? And does tire rack insure these wheels in case that might happen?

I've had them on the WRX wagon for about a year and a half now with no problems on a 120mile/day commute. As with any wheel, if it touches the road, it bends. Going from a 16" to a 17" increases the likelihood of the wheel touching the road because of the shorter sidewall. There is no warranty for bent rims due to hitting a pothole, but I'll contend that these will hold up as well as the rest of 'em.

I agree with Dexter. I've had them on my wagon for about 5500 miles and have no bends, dings, scratches, etc. And I drive 70 miles a day to work and back on the worst possible road you could find. But it is one of the windier (wine dier)? roads around here? The difference may be in the tire size. I believe both Dexter and I run 225 instead of 215. I actually work at a tire shop. You would not believe the difference in wheels that have 225/45/17 instead of 215/45/17. We have a room in the back that is half full of bent or cracked Lexus ES300 wheels. And they run a reinforced tire.

Reconsider 17s. Big investment, 18s over 17s on this car are purely for cosmetics. 17s offer so many benefits in my opinion, and that extra 1/2" sidewall is cheap insurance.
