i also am looking for snow tires, but i want to put them on some cheap steel hubs like the ones you would get if you had hubcaps, i want then to be like 15's or even 14's if i can, becasue i would like to get a narrow snow tire, wide tires suck in the snow something like a 185 70 maybe a little bigger then the spare, but i want it to work.

Anyone shopping for winter tires should check out Tirerack . If you want to go cheap, you should look at the Winterforce's, a guy I work with got those for his Saturn. Otherwise the Michelins, Dunlops, Pirellis and Bridgestones all seem to rate really well. I'm probably going to go with the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2s in my OE size. And, Tirerack sells steel wheels and wheel covers.

I use Dunlop Winter Sport M2s on stock wheel/tire size. Never had a better situation in the snow.

I run 4 studded Goodyear Ultra Grips in winter. They grip like a ***king tank! They still have a nice aggressive tread pattern too if you don't want to stud them.

those re 92 suck, i burn them out in less than 16 grand. i think it might have been from the snow, they get good start off traction, but turning, and espescaily stopping the are not very good. my subaru took longer to stop in the snow then my ford escort four door from 97. looks like a taurus body style.

On factory RE-92s in light snow and ice, driving was okay until I had to apply brakes on a downhill grade. ABS is way too sensitive to slight variations in wheel speeds. I was about to resort to turning into the snowbank at the roadside to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of me. Fortunately, I allowed plenty of room which gave me time to apply the parking brake manually to slow down the car. RE-92s just don't have much grip on these surfaces under braking.

I just had four Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2s (ordered from Tire Rack) mounted today on a second set of WRX rims for winter use. Haven't had a chance to try them out yet, but they look to be a better choice for light snow and ice than the factory shoes.

Any recommendations for 15" snows that have good traction AND will last more than 2 winters?

These are 195/60R15 that I run. This will also be my 3rd winter on them and they still look new.
