Rota Torques

Ok, I'm seriously considering getting the Rota Torques 17x8 and 18 lbs. Is this heavy for this size, I kno the ssr comps are like 12 but there also narrower. I'm also considering getting the Falken Azenis 215/45/17 with them. Does this sound like a good setup, suggestions? My reason for posting tho is that I'm wondering if it really makes sense to go to x8 tires rather than x7.5 or x7 when I can only get 215's without clearance problems (according to subydude). Thank you for your opinions and help.

215 is pretty narrow for a 8" wheel width. do you have a wagon or sedan?

the whole point of getting a 8" rim is so you can run the wider tires. if you only want to get a 215 tire, then run a narrower rim.

I think they are coming out with 7.5'' Torques, I wouldn't put 215's on a sedan. I believe most people have 225/45/17 like me or 235/40/17.

i have a '99 wagon, I asked subydude, and they said the 215/45/17 tires would be best. Which was my question, and your kinda answering it, I was thinking exactly that, why get 8x when i'm only getting 215's, but wasn't sure theyd work on smaller ones cuz i don't know much. how wide is that in inches? and how narrow culd I go and still fit them fine? Thank you

215's would work on a 7.5" wheel. I have 225's on a 7.5" wheel and they fit great. I think the reason Subydude is saying to stay away from 225 is because the wagon (unlike the sedan) doesnt have flared fenders so there isnt as much room for a 225 But I dont know anything about 99 wagon's.

1"=25.4mm

215mm=8.46"

very good, thanx.

I was confused cuz thats what I thought the conversion was and it seemed like 245's on them would be a ton wider than the rim, so I was confused, thank you

Oh yea, is there an advantage to going to 7.5x on the 215 instead of 8x? Is it better to have the tire a certain amount wider than the rim, or does it matter? To me it would seem like the wider the tire (than the rim) the less it would rub a rim if u hit a curb but the easier the tire would fall off. Is this true? if so, any other advant/disadvantages? OR what are advant/disadvantages.

Thanx

One advantage of having a 7.5" wide wheel over 8" with a 215mm tire would be the weight difference.
