Question offset for wagon?

Im starting the process of tracking down a set of wheels for my car and i need a quick question answered, what offset do i need to be at or what range within do i need it to be for a 17 in wheel on my wagon?

sucky

So now im sad because i looked up the work emotion xt-7's i want, and they do not have bigger than a +47 offset in the 17X7.5. Is there a shim or maybe a spacer i could use to get that last mm offset, or am i sol? They have +52 or so in 18 in, but thats just too big, not to mention over 400 bucks a piece which is just above what im willing to save for it. On a side note, anyone have pics of xt-7's on a wagon, or failing that, on the front of a bugeye?

1mm of offset makes no real difference. They'll be 1mm closer to the outside of the vehicle. A spacer would actually effectively lower the offset. A range of +45 to 52 is just fine for most rim widths. The wider you go, the lower the offset you want generally because you can roll fenders but you can't do much if the tire contacts the strut (other than add pos. camber or go to coilovers).

Cliffs: +47 is just fine.

would a +42 work on a 17X8 with stock brakes and at the most, sti pinks? Or will i need to roll the fenders, also wont be an issue since im saving up for these now, just a few extra bucks so not a huge deal.

believe you should be fine with that size and some sti pinks without rubbing issues.

Nice choice of wheels by the way.

Ya, its sad how i first was exposed to them, saw them on nfs prostreet, where i was, of course, running an sti. Put them on and im like damn those look good in game, wonder what they look like in rl. Looked them up and when i found them i just sat there and drooled for like 10 minutes, bout poped a boner too, lol. Then i saw works price of 500 a piece, and i cried. Dug around a bit, vivid racing came up and sure enough, 350 or so a piece, right in my price range.

Beware, Vivid has a bad reputation for screwing people.

17X8 +42 is what I'd do if I could go back. You should be able to tuck 225/45/17's without issue depending on model and 245/40/17 will be possible with a roll.
