its +38mm not +32mm.
17x8.5 +38mm is a lot wider than 17x8 +38mm..and definitely wider than 17x7 +48mm
1cm = 10mm
1in = 2.54cm
.5in = appro. 17mm
you do the math.

I have some winter tires mounted on 16" steel rims that I think are OEM Jetta/Bug with stock tire size, they stick out about 1/4" more then the stock wheels. Now I'm wondering if this is safe? fry my wheel bearings?:O Handling at times seems squirrelly, but this could be due to the softer winter tire.
Should I be worried??
