Right now I am riding around on stock WRX rims and my snow tires and am about to purchase some new 17x8 Torques, but I have a problem.
I currently live in Germany, and most of my driving is done between 90mph and 115mph (my snow tires are only good for up to 190kph). Germany receives rain all year round so I need a tire that is good in the dry and in the wet and won't make a lot of noise at high speeds. My snow tires are directional and are surprisingly quiet even at speed.
I want to put 235/45 R17's on these rims since the gearing advantage of 235/40's isn't really an issue for me since I drive at autobahn speeds, but am unsure if they will fit with the 2 tire choices that I have made. I want to get either the Goodyear GS-D3 or the Kumho Ecsta MX. Unless someone can think of a better tire that is.
So I guess these are the two questions:
1) Does anyone know if either of these 2 tires will fit a 2004 WRX sedan with stock suspension in 235/45 size or do I need to go with the 235/40's?
2) Does anyone have a suggestion for a better tire that will be good in the wet and dry and not make a lot of noise at high speed?
Thanks In Advance
Cheers!

S-03's are pretty popular and available in both sizes with good wet traction. tire rack has a $100 rebate on a set of four (although I'm not sure if they ship internationally)

I wouldn't want to hazard a guess on the issue of fittment, but S-03s and the Kumho MXs are good choices. Both of these high-traction/performance tires are going to give you some noise. I have 225 45 MXs and have little noise above the car's ambient noise @65-90 MPH. Traction in the rain is excellent. MXs seem to be wider than a lot of tires for a given size. Higher speeds than 65-90 though, and the tires can make a lot of noise if the surface is right. Smooth, exposed aggregate asphalt seems to be the worst for noise, flat concrete is the most quiet. Any of these high grip tires will give you noise. I'm envious, man...have fun driving the autobahn!

Well I could also just go with the PS2's seeing as they come as OE on the McLaren SLR and the Porche.
Any other suggestions/ ideas out there?
