I've driven about 200 miles and they seem to be fine so far. I haven't done much yet with them. Cheap as hell though! 432 shipped for a set of 235/40/17 =)

what model tire are you talking about?

your question is way to vague by just giving a brand

I have the Hankook Ventus K104s, the rubber compound is good, they get pretty grippy (I have mobbed them for a few months now, been up hwy9 and Hami a few times with 'em too) BUT my only complaint is the uber reinforced sidewalls....while they have excellent resistance to road hazards like potholes and uneven pavement, the stiffer sidewalls dont allow the tire to flex as much in hard cornering, so they tend to squeel in those long sweeping corners, but they hold the road fairly decent due mainly to the rubber compound.

I would give them about a 7 out of 10...but will say they are more suited for looking good while driving around the city and some mild to moderate abuse....but for pure performance, I'd say there are better alternatives.

-Ted

EDIT: Those, I'm not sure about.

K106 -$72
Ventus HRII H405 - $76
Ventus V4 ES H105 - $88
Ventus Sport K104 - $91

Basically looking for the best directional radial in 225/45/R17 for under $100 a tire.

The RS2s kick ***! VERY grippy (up there with the Falken Azeni, better than the S-03 Pole Position), and a helluva bang-for-the-buck.

I second what Ted says about the K104's, although I give them a bit more credit in the driveability department, and a little less as far as road hazzard resestance.
Not a bad bang-for-the-buck tire, although at this point I wouldnt switch back to them.

From what I've heard the RS2s are GREAT tires, but if you push them to their limit, they smell like literal crap afterwords.

hmm...

For $113/tire, you can get some Yoko AVS ES100's...which I've had really good experiences with.

IMHO ES100s are utter crap. They're very quiet, so you have no idea when they're gonna break traction, they fold over very easily, and the sidewall has better traction than the actual tread (when it was at 2/32 of tread left, which is basically wear bars). Turns taken too hard, the sidewall folds over, but instead of it completely losing grip, the sidewall gains the traction and throws it back onto the tread, only for the tread to die again. So your car starts hopping around.

Though, with the 45 and below profile, they have a steel insert, which should make it slightly better. But as 1/2 of this board will say ES100s are garbage, and the other 1/2 will say OMGES100BESTTIREEVER

booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooo, these particluar tires were soooo terrible. they lasted about 2 years if not more when i sold my rims. they had terrible terrible wet traction and not very good dry traction. the tread pattern was probably ****ty and the rubber sure as hell was. but maybe thats just for those particular model. all i can say is definetly not these! noooooooooo!
