How wide can you go on a GC? I know the fenders aren't flared like the WRX, so I'm guessing you can't go as wide.

215's are as wide as you can go w/ out getting your fenders rolled, also you might want to go down to 50's instead of staying w/ 55's if going to 215, especially on stock suspension.

Wow, that's not very wide at all. I have 215's on the stock wheels right now. I have the stock suspension, but when I sell the WRX I was thinking of upgrading to SPT suspension. I think that lowers it a bit.

If you have a WRX sedan, you can put 225's on the GC8 wheels. I assumed you were driving a RS 2.5. If you have them on a WRX, you can put 225's on them.

You can fit 225s or 235s on an RS, depending on the tire brand and model. I had rubbing issues with215/45R17 S03s on mine, which I solved with mad tyte rear camber. Rolling the fender lips isn't a big deal though, and will let you run almost any 225 without an issue. Also try removing the rubber liner on the lip of the rear fenders. I removed mine on an on-ramp.

I have an 02 WRX with 225/45/17 so3's (wheels 48mm offset), SPT springs/ stock struts with 1 degree of negative camber in the rear and the tires will rub the rear fenders when I'm pushing hard in the twisties.

One thing I learned from BAN SUVS is that different tires have different physical widths so one companies 215 might be as wide as another companies 225. My 225 so3's are one of the widest 225's you can buy so if I would have bought a 225 that was made by another company I might have avoided my rubbing issues. One of these days I will install some KYB's and go back to 1.5 degees of - camber and hopefully that will take care of it.

If you pull the fender lip rubber things off your rear fenders, the lip should "self-adjust" to your tires. That's why mine don't rub anymore... although I'm getting my fenders professionally pulled and rolled soon, hoping to fit 235 or 245s.

Thanks for the advice but I'm a little leary of doing that since that piece of rubber is there to protect the paint. If they do still rub after removeing the rubber strip the paint may wear off and then I will have to contend with rust. I'm for the most part done with my engine mods (yea right) and now I am ready to beef up the suspension. Like you I plan on fixing it with some more - camber.

Good luck fitting 235's or 245's, I'm sure your car will feel like its on rails after that mod. Are you going to go with so3's again or do you think you might try some ps2's? Like you I have so3's and love them but I think I will try the ps2's when this set wears out.

Still up in the air on next year's tires. I have some partially used Azenis Sports, but they were used by a fellow autocrosser for most of last year, so they're probably pretty well heat cycled to death. Right now I'm debating between RE070s and BFG KDs for the track/SoloII tires. I doubt I'll spend the money for S03s for the street though, as by next year I should have a new daily driver for that.

Patiene friend, patience... I expect to be done in time for autocross next season.

And I should be more specific about that... I removed the liners by bombing down a cloverleaf at about 70... I didn't climb out and pull them off.
