Fuzion ZRi tires?

Anyone tried or heard of these tires? Made by bridgestone/firestone I guess. They are wicked cheap and look decent enough.

From what I've heard, these tires are the equivalent of Mini to BMW or Old Navy to the Gap (that is, Fuzion to Bridgestone). It's supposed to be a low-priced entry-level performance tire that looks cool. That's all I've heard; I don't think that anyone has had any first-hand experience with them yet.

Yeah.. I saw the previous discusson of them. No one really knew anything then, I was hoping they might know something now.

How about I rephrase the question. Is there any reason why I shouldn't get these tires?

I can get the Fuzion's for approx $164 installed, taxes in (Canadian), but I can get some Yoko AVS ES100's for approx $240 installed. Would it be worth the extra $80 to get something that has been at least tried. Information about the Fuzion's is few and far between on the net..

If you haven't watched "Pimp my Ride" on MTV yet, then you are missing out on the final sign of the decline of human civilization into barbarism and chaos, cultivating the nadir of intellect and the anathema of good taste.

Translation: that show RAWKS, d00dz!

BTW: buying a $25,000, 220-HP car and putting $79 tires on it is like buying a beautiful gold watch and then putting duct tape over the face of it. Of all the parts of your car to go cheap on, don't do it with your tires.

It seems my appraisal of the show was a little too subtle...

Not all $79 tires drive like they cost that, especially when they are that cheap as part of their promotion, which is the point of trying them out and comparing them to more expensive tires.

There are cases where higher cost is not indicative of higher performance, or the "bang for the buck" quotient leads one to the point of diminished returns.
That sounds like a textbook recipe for future buyer's remorse. I think just about everyone on this forum will agree that with tires, you pretty much get what you pay for (with a few notable exceptions like the overpriced Michelin Pilots). I've driven $80 tires and $160 tires, and you get more than twice your money's worth out of that deal. But hey, if a $160 tire is just more rubber than you need, by all means explore your options. Perhaps these tires would be really nice "shoes" for the non-turbo RS models and Legacy wagons and sedans.

Those are NOT the tires that are on all the 'Pimp my ride' cars. only 1 car had those tires & they misspoke & said they were race tires...I think the Mustang had Pirelli Neros on it, for instance.

The point some of us have made in this forum is that, if you drive hard, you should measure tires on the absolute scale of performance, not on the "bang-for-the'buck" scale. Basically, take every tire ever made, put them in a list based solely on how fast a car is with them on, and pick the highest one on the list you are able to afford. If you autocross, go to track days, or just try to chase your friends down on backroads, you should not be making cost compromises on tires. THAT is why so many people here swear by S03s, Pilot Sports, etc. They aren't necessarily ever the best value... just the best tires.
