Dunlop FM901's -- Weak!!!

At first, I really liked this tire, but I popped a sidewall twice on them. I hit a pothole and hidewall popped. 2 times. So now on my Legacy rims (18") I have used 6 of them so far... What a sucky tire. Good thing that they are replacing them with Direzzas.

You couldn't get them replaced through warranty?

Honestly I did not want to bother. I mean I did drive over a pothole, but it is weird to have a tire pop and rim not get bent...

Sounds like poorly constructed sidewalls. You do know that Dunlop is owned by Goodyear.

When I got my first set of Yokohama AVS ES 100's, I ran over a piece of fire wood doing about 50mph. At the point of impact the rim was bent and cracked. The strut was bent but the tire retained it's shape and i was able to maintain conrol of the car and drive off the highway (in front of the richmond/San Rafael bridge toll plaza). The rims BTW were Rota Attacks, and even though they were bent and cracked, they still held together. I threw another rim on and the SAME tire that was in the collision (yes it survived). I later replaced it with a new one.

Thanks for the post on the 901s. They are a very light-wieght and inexpensive tire making them somewhat appealing. Not any more.

Now I'm leaning to the Kumho SPTs or the ZRis.
