Anybody know what to use to clean wheels. I recently purchased a set of Speedline painted wheels that are in mint condition except that there are black specks on them. I assumed the specks were just brake dust but I can't get them off. I tried various brands of wheel cleaners, brake cleaner, tar and sap remover, gas, WD-40, aluminum wheel polishing compound (did this very lightly because I was worried it would take the paint off), Simple Green, engine degreaser and rubbing alcohol. The only thing that works is by scratching them off with my finger nail (and that is very difficult)
Anybody have any suggestions?

bump!
I have no idea I'm in the same boat...
how do you get rid of those black spots that are on the inside of the wheel? they seem to be getting worse and worse.

You could use some mild soap (something that desolves greese) and hot water and use a wood paint stir stick and scrape them off. I had the same problem as we all may have. hope that this helps.
I bought my 04 BBS wheels used, and they had black spots. I used Turttle wax bug and tar remover and it made the removal very easy. Just spray on, wait about a minute, wipe off with rag, and rinse really well.
