Can you guys help me out on choice?

I want new wheels and tires for a decent price. I was looking at just some 16s but now this maybe 17s would be the way to go. I don't want to lower my car so they've gotta be big enough to fill the wells. Any suggestions?? I was thinkin 245/40 R16 not sure about 17s. Also which wheel do most you like on a 96 Impreza L 4dr??
Thanks,
Cody

getting 16's or 17's or even 19's won't fill your wells. The reason is because the tire width will be thinner as you go up in rim size to match the same circumference as the stock rim/tire in order to maintain the same odometer/speedometer specs, as well as maintain the same wheel rotation ratio that the car was designed for. The only way you can fill your wells (i assume you mean close the wheel well gap) without lowering your car is to get larger tires which i highly advise against.

You can find good wheels @ a good price @ http://www.subydude.com/parts/wheels.php and good tires and wheels @ a good price @http://www.tirerack.com/index.jsp. Tirerack will tell you the size that would be best for your car. Get some 17's if your going to spend the $ they look allot better and help handeling unless you are a guy that goes to the drag strip allot.

Nope, no drag strip for me! One thing, I am going to put it all on my Les Schwabs account I think so I don't gotta spend alot up front. Let me get this straight though, right now I think i have 195/55 R15, if I went with 215/45 R17 wouldn't the tire and wheel, as a whole, be about the same diameter??? Basically I would have a bigger wheel and a slightly smaller tire yet the same size, or would this look stupid?? Is the only way to lower my car if I want 17s cause it would look gay if i didn't right?
Thanks for the replies,
Cody

Hey Greg,
thanks for the help. I used that calc and my wheels/tires I have on there right now are, 195/60-15, If i went to a 17" wheel, to have the same diameter it looks like I'd have to use 215/45-17 and they'd be .2in bigger. Does anyone have these tires and wheels on an Impreza or RS so I know what it would look like??
Ok, this is what I've found -
Mille Miglia Spider II Bright Silver Finish=17x7 HERE
Yokohama AVS ES WR Speed Rated 215/45R17 HERE
wheels are about $177 a piece
tires are about $100 a piece. Good deal??? Can anyone find me the weight of these wheels?
Thanks,
Cody

Wow, huge improvement over the previous wheels. Your car would look nice lowered though, why aren't you planning on doing that?

Thanks.
I'm just don't think i'd like it lowered, too ricey for me. The back tires rub on corners too so I couldn't lower it righ?
How much for a lowering kit?
What about some new KYB 4-way struts at all 4 corners??
Thanks,
Cody

Yeah, that offset looks wrong. Can't quite explain it, but it looks odd to me.

The offset was wrong. I ended up getting different wheels and now they are much better.

Glad to hear that Les Schwabs took care of you. What did you get?

Here she is. Sorry, the digital camera sucks and it was bright outside. Just took some quick ones before work this morning.
