Bf goodrich tires T/A KD vs T/A KDW Help me out here

I am looking into the G-force t/a kdw because everywhere I read it compares pretty well to the straight up G-Force t/a KD which is the flagship of this tire company. the only difference is that one is good in the rain and cheaper? from reviews I have read, people say the T/A KD is terrible in the rain. but these are also mostly from 2WD car owners. How much better is the dry traction of the KD vs. the KDW and is the difference worth the the sacrifice for a better wet traction combo? Thanks everyone

as long as you don't use the KDW 2's (the new style tread pattern) on the track then the dry traction is pretty good. i had a set and they heated up and started coming appart. I replaced them with a set of the BFG KD's, which were very very nice on the dry and worked well at the track. Not sure about the KDW's.

i had the KDW2's and the new KD's.

on AWD car the KD's work in the rain ok. but not compaired to a M+S tire like the Dunlop SP Sport 5000's. you just have to be careful and you can't drive like you would in dry condiitons.

if you are looking for an all around tire for street then the KDW's may be ok for you but there are others that are much better IMO.

ok, well the ones I was looking into were the KDW2's I havnt talked to anyone who had them personally. BUt BFs aside. what woudl you recomend for a street tire. I dont really ever see the track but I do like to drive the car pretty hard in corners. I had a set of Azenis on 17x7.5 and they worked nice. This tire was also frowned upon for wet driving but I never had a problem with them. So thats where my concern with wet and dry traction comes from on the KD serieis tires. Im not set on those tires though so Im open to suggestions. Thanks man

NJDino,

There are some other really good tires out there. Dunlop SP Sport 5000's (m+s), Toyo T1-S or the 4's (m+s), S03's, Pirelli Nero P-Zero (m+s) it just depends if you see any snow driving and how many miles you want to replace tires.

Another really good tire for wet and dry is the PS2's but it's not a mud+snow.

So like I said, I've had the PS2's, S03's, Dunlops SP Sport 5000, KD's and KDW2, and now some Toyo RA1's. Out of all of them the Dunlops were the best all around tire for rain, snow, and dry. Least amount of noise for a tire has been the PS2's. Most grip has been in this order RA1's, KD's and S03's. The S03's have the best wet grip out of the three IMO. But all three have been used in wet track days by others at full tread.

Check out www.tirerack.com for a ton of reviews, also talk with Luke @ TireRack.
