The Best Winter Tires
Hi, I have an Impreza '04, TS 2.5 sport wagon. I will be needing new tires, probably by November, unless it snow's a lot before then here in the North East. I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good snow tire to go with the all-wheel drive. I was not impressed with the Bridgestone's as I was all over the place last winter. I have about 32,000 on the tires right now so I thought that it might be better to just switch over to "Winter" tires from about November on? I can store the Bridgestone's for the winter and put good tires on, so any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

go onto tire rack and checkout the winterforce tires. i put a set on my forester xt and they work well even without the studs. the price is hard to beat. just remeber they only, like most winter tires, 90% of the grip all season tires have on dry pavement. then when the "stones" wear out you can replace them with high performance summer tires.

I have the continental extremes on my sti for the winter, excellent on the snow, ok on ice. I was driving on snowpack at about 60 mph. Really never ever got squirlly through the slush/snow pack. The were a little more nervous on the ice, however, but still ok. They are reasonably price too.

Just call the tire rack and tell them what you want from your tires, how many miles, how much wet/snow, how much dry. That's what I did and loved the Michellin Arctic Alpin's that they suggested, I managed to get two winters out of them, I plan to do the same thing this fall.
