Best tires I can get? Brembo's?

I Have 1000 bucks for tires. I want street tires that are going to last a fair amount of time. I plan to put them on 17's not 18's becuase I don't want to lose any from stop speed. I have heard S02's tosed around.

Before some one tells me to get less expensive tires and get onther stuff consider this, I work at a golf course and they have silent auctions and I bid and won two $500 tickets for tires for $150 each so I get $1000 of tires for $300. The tire place also sells brembo pakages to think I should save a bit to tires and get brakes? Whats your call?

S03's.

Brakes aren't going to do you much good without great tires. But S0-3 should only run ~700 or so. If they sell brembos then they probably sell ss brake lines and good fluid. Do that with your extra $300 (and/or get some new pads!!!).

My top 3 choices

1-Michelen Pilots
The best overall performance, a bit expensive
2-Goodyear Eagle F1
Not as good as the pilots, better than so-3
3-Bridgestone So-3
great tires, but not as sticky as the Goodyear or Michelen

But also remember that big brake kits are great but if you have a suspension that dives under harsh braking then the brakes will do you little good. Get a great set of tires then move on to the next. Good Luck

I absolutely love my S03s, but I'm going to try a set of Goodyear GSD3s for autocross this season. TireRack claims they are as good in the wet and better in the dry, while costing less and lasting longer. We'll see.

I think that I will go with the SO3's. What do you think for rim size 17's or 18's. I was thinking 17's

215/45R17 for optimum odometer/speedometer calibration, 215/40 or 225/40 for stiffer sidewalls.

Toyo T1-S reportedly will last longer than S03 from many forum users' experience. Those will be my next set I am sure.

They last longer, but aren't nearly as good.
