You should be fine on relatively new RE92's. I thought they hydroplaned a bit easier than other tires I've had, and they weren't awesome in the snow...but they are fine if driven reasonably.
If you're still interested in the Falken Ziex 512's, you may also want to check out www.edgeracing.com when comparing prices. They have them for $63 ea. in the stock size (205/55/16). I was going to pick up a set for my wife's Civic @ $35 a piece.
btw, I can vouch for the quality/performance of the Pzero Nero M+S. I have them in 225/45/17 size. However, as many others mentioned, they are quite a bit more expensive than a tire like the Falken 512 (about $40 more in 205/55/16).

ive had the toyo proxy fz 4 tires for 3 years, held up pretty good but the last year they have been a bit slippery, especially on snow. i just ordered a set of the falken 512 s . most people agree they are a good value. hopefully things work out.
thanks, yeah i've read some good reviews on them but it's so hard to deside, lately i've been thinking about getting a full on winter tire maybe the Dunlop Winter Sport M3

almost everything i've read has been great, and seeing how the almanac predicts a snowy winter here in ny maybe i'll suffer with the oe's till weather demands force my hand. that is if i can save the clams by winters first frost

Wow, I was going to recommend the Kumho ASX, but damn the price has jumped up to $100 per tire. I bought mine about 4 months ago for $80 per tire.
I don't like the Falken Ziex line. Bad experience, I believe the compound too hard and wet traction sucks. Based off of driving experience on Japanese roads in the rainy seasons. Lost my first Silvia in a non-drift related accident with new Ziex 512's on it. NO grip. Japanese roads are made with a combination of black top and sea shells, so a part of the feeling of no traction could be caused by the slicker than snot feel of the surface of the road.
For the time I found Kumho Supra's had better traction and had gotten them shipped to Japan, since at that time no one in Japan sold the Kumhos. Back when they were a little cheaper.

if i can't scrape up the $400+ it'll cost me for a set of tires i'll have to be fine with the OE's
but would love the Dunlop Winter Sport M3's.

I have the M3's for my winter tires and I really like them. I would just save an extra 100 bucks and then you can afford them. Dunlop used to make a grasspick that was below the M3's and it sold for about 80 bucks, but they must of stopped making them. Good luck

i am running potenze g009s. i love these tires, they perform head over heels greater then the re92s. check them out on tire rack.
the wet traction on these are AMAZING. i would almost bet i get better grip/traction in water then i do on pavement. the snow is alright i havent had any problems during this past Minnesota winter. just gotta watch out for that freezing rain. the ice traction on thses isnt that good, but its better then some (enough where i could swerve to miss a spinning BMW 7 series, but not slowdown to miss it), oohh yeah and i got these tires cause they came highly reccomended for rally-x / mud which i have yet to try.
the best part is i think i paid around $60 a tire for 195/55/15s like 250 mounted and balanced at local tire shop.
i cant push these tires enough, but for a higher power car they might not be enough. for my 2.2l and prolly 2.5ls they should provide AMPLE traction. just be wary of glare ice.

got my falken 512 s . getting them mounted tommorrow. seems like a decent deal. any recomendations for tire pressure ??? 98 2.5 rs currently at 33/f and 30/r , with the proxes. ......i also looked at the kumho ASX tires and they do sound pretty good, but i went with the falkens. later..
with 33 psi in the rear, doesnt it slide out on you pretty easy ? i just didnt know if different tires warrant different tire pressures ........any idea for the falkens ????.............. just got tires mounted. they look good, lol. just a small ¼ inch scratch along the rim of one wheel. the guy said they were a b1tch to balance too. any info on touch up paint or anything to match the gold rims ?. CIAÕ
as far as sliding out i havent but i've been driving pretty conservitively around turns, seeing how i live in the burbs of ny on long island, where the're all rights and lefts, no sweeping curves nor roling hills.
As far as different tires having different specs where tire presure is concirned, i would bet they do but to be sure i can not.
sorry can't help with the paint.
