245's anyone? Imprezer?

anyone running 245's?
I'm currently running 235's on a 8.5 RC2 with 45 offset.

I'm tempted to try out the kumho MX in 245's

anyone have input?

Imprezer, have you tried any other tire combos on your Rc2?

thx

I am running 225's. Being a true tarmac race tire (P Zero C), I have plenty of grip. I am considering 235's when my current tires wear out just to fill the fenders more.

I think you can use 245's. Rolling fenders in the rear will be required though. Don't quote me on this one, but I am pretty sure you can do it.

yea I have plenty of grip with my 235's but it seems like the tires in that category are pretty limited.

I thought about getting 225 azenis but we get our fair share of rain over here.

But I will need to roll the fenders with 245 for sure. with 235's it rubs if the car is too low.

Smile is that as big as we could go?

Are 18x8.5's as big a wheel as we can stuff on a WRX? I have an '03 with the full SPT suspension on it. I have bee shopping for wheels that would fit. I wanted to know what the largest wheels and tires I could stuff in there would be.

At 18x8.5's what would the best offset be, and who makes wheels in this offset?

thanks for any info.

Crazy thing is, those aren't even 5x100 bolt patterned wheels. Advan doesn't make them that big for the WRX's bolt pattern. Somewhere, that car was profiled and it said those wheels are 5x114.

Personally, if they made them, I'd get them, and just roll the fenders till they fit

Just looked in this months Super Street Mag, that car is on the cover. It states that they are 18x9.5 Advan RG wheels, with 265/35R18 Advan A048R tires.

...I still want them.

I have been doing some experiments and I installed a set of used 255/40/17 Pirelli Assimetrico's on my 17x8.5 +45 Advan RCII's.

The tire fits the rim great. In the front, I had 0 problems. I haven't driven the car with them, but looks like it will work. The tire is not sticking out pass the fender. There is a 2mm gap between the shock and the tire.

In the rear, I had to use a 3mm spacer in order to avoid the tire hitting the shock. The tire is nicely tucked inside the rolled fender.

Going from 225/45/17 to 255/40/17 will increase the traction for me dramatically. I will be able to corner harder without worrying about the rear end sliding out. Now, since the fronts will also be 255's, I will have to work the steering wheel much harder. The turn in response will be reduced a bit, but I think it is worth it given a large number of benefits.

One must remember, the all coilovers are different in ways, so where a 255 fit on my car equipped with Zero Sports coilovers, it might not work on others. Also, the position of the spring perch and the spring itself will be different, so in some cases the tire will just smack against the spring.

I am still debating wheather to get 255's or 245's. 245's will fit like a charm, but running 255's on a WRX will be so coooooool...
